Bengaluru Power Cut on December 26: West, North-West Areas to Face 7-Hour Outage on Friday

Several
parts
of
west
and
north-west
Bengaluru
will
experience
a
scheduled
power
outage
on
Friday,
December
26,
as
Bengaluru
Electricity
Supply
Company
Limited
(BESCOM)
carries
out
planned
maintenance
work.

According
to
BESCOM,
electricity
supply
will
remain
suspended
for
around
seven
hours-from
10
am
to
5
pm-in
multiple
residential
layouts
and
apartment
clusters.
The
interruption
is
linked
to
maintenance
activities
at
the
66/11
kV
Chandra
Layout
substation,
which
supplies
power
to
a
wide
stretch
of
surrounding
neighbourhoods.

Officials
said
the
shutdown
has
been
scheduled
to
allow
Karnataka
Power
Transmission
Corporation
Limited
(KPTCL)
teams
to
carry
out
essential
inspection
and
servicing
of
equipment
at
the
substation.
The
work
has
been
classified
as
both
emergency
and
quarterly
maintenance,
aimed
at
improving
network
stability
and
preventing
sudden
breakdowns.

BESCOM
explained
that
the
Chandra
Layout
station
feeds
several
densely
populated
localities,
making
it
necessary
to
halt
supply
temporarily
while
engineers
work
on
transmission
lines
and
related
infrastructure.
Authorities
added
that
such
planned
outages
help
reduce
the
risk
of
unexpected
faults
that
could
otherwise
lead
to
longer,
unplanned
blackouts.

been
advised
to
prepare
for
the
outage
during
the
announced
window.

Advisory
for
Residents

BESCOM
has
urged
residents,
shops
and
offices
in
the
affected
areas
to
plan
their
activities
in
advance.
People
working
from
home
are
advised
to
charge
electronic
devices,
secure
power
backups
where
possible,
and
schedule
electricity-dependent
tasks
outside
the
outage
hours.

Households
relying
on
electric
water
pumps,
medical
equipment
or
refrigeration
have
also
been
asked
to
make
alternative
arrangements.
Officials
said
power
supply
is
expected
to
be
restored
gradually
after
5
pm,
subject
to
the
completion
of
maintenance
work.

Any
changes
to
the
outage
schedule
will
be
communicated
through
BESCOM’s
official
channels.
While
acknowledging
the
inconvenience,
authorities
said
the
December
26
shutdown
is
necessary
to
ensure
safer
and
more
reliable
power
supply
across
west
and
north-west
Bengaluru
in
the
long
run.
