Uttar
Pradesh
Chief
Minister
Yogi
Adityanath
told
the
state
Assembly
that
strict
action
awaits
criminals
and
illegal
land
grabbers,
warning
that
influential
positions
will
not
shield
offenders.
Adityanath
linked
harsh
measures,
including
bulldozer
drives,
to
a
wider
push
on
security,
and
also
targeted
the
Opposition
over
what
was
described
as
“selective
outrage” on
global
and
regional
issues.

During
the
debate
on
the
supplementary
budget,
Adityanath
said
law
and
order
improvements
have
changed
how
Uttar
Pradesh
is
viewed
across
India.
He
stressed
that
security
has
become
central
to
public
life
and
politics
in
the
state,
and
argued
that
electoral
results
since
2017
reflect
voter
approval
of
this
approach.

Uttar
Pradesh
Chief
Minister
Yogi
Adityanath
addressed
the
state
Assembly,
emphasizing
strict
action
against
criminals
and
illegal
land
grabbers,
while
also
criticizing
the
Opposition’s
response
to
events
in
neighboring
countries,
particularly
concerning
violence
against
Hindus.

Yogi
Adityanath
security
pitch
and
warning
on
encroachment

Renewing
the
government’s
stance
on
encroachment,
Adityanath
declared
that
religious
and
historical
sites
will
receive
strong
protection.
“Whoever
encroaches
upon
any
monument
or
mythological
site,
I
will
not
spare
them.
If
any
mafia
illegally
occupies
government
land
and
turns
it
into
a
den
of
extortion
or
immoral
activities,
bulldozers
will
roll
and
no
one
can
stop
it,” the
Chief
Minister
said
in
the
House.

Adityanath
added
that
the
change
in
the
state’s
image
is
rooted
in
improved
policing
and
a
tougher
stance
against
organised
crime.
“A
secure
environment
is
essential
for
everyone.
It
is
because
of
security
that
the
outlook
towards
Uttar
Pradesh
has
changed,” the
Chief
Minister
told
legislators
while
defending
the
government’s
record
on
maintaining
order.

Yogi
Adityanath
security
agenda,
economic
growth
and
criminal
crackdown

Linking
development
with
policing,
Adityanath
argued
that
investment
and
growth
depend
on
clear
rules
and
political
firmness.
“Whether
it
is
an
individual,
the
society
or
an
institution

the
first
requirement
is
security.
There
must
be
the
rule
of
law
and
a
sense
of
safety
for
everyone.
Every
daughter
and
every
trader
should
feel
secure

this
should
be
the
first
priority
of
any
government,”
Adityanath
said.

The
Chief
Minister
said
that
criminals
and
those
who
challenge
the
system
now
understand
likely
repercussions.
“A
criminal
knows
about
the
consequences
(of
his
criminal
acts)
now.
Anyone
who
deliberately
provokes
the
system
knows
that
this
is
no
longer
the
Uttar
Pradesh
where
criminals
used
to
chase
police
personnel.
This
government
guarantees
safety
to
citizens,
but
it
also
warns
criminals

‘reform
yourselves
or
the
road
to
Yamraj
is
open’.
He
(criminal)
can
get
a
call
from
Yamraj
anytime,”
Adityanath
warned.

Adityanath
maintained
that
voters
continue
to
judge
the
government
on
its
performance
since
coming
to
power.
“What
we
have
done
and
what
we
have
not
done

the
people
of
Uttar
Pradesh
are
giving
the
results
and
they
will
continue
to
do
so.
What
matters
is
the
perception
within
and
outside
the
state

before
2017
and
after
2017,”
the
Chief
Minister
said,
adding
that
feedback
from
other
regions
also
reflects
this
change.

According
to
Adityanath,
Uttar
Pradesh’s
earlier
reputation
has
shifted,
with
fewer
reports
of
communal
tension.
“Today,
wherever
people
go,
they
hear
that
there
is
a
strong
security
environment
in
Uttar
Pradesh.
There
are
no
riots,
no
anarchy,”
he
said,
arguing
that
this
atmosphere
has
encouraged
people
to
travel,
work
and
invest
more
freely
across
districts.

Yogi
Adityanath
security
stance
and
attack
on
Opposition

Adityanath
also
used
the
Assembly
debate
to
criticise
Opposition
parties,
accusing
them
of
“selective
outrage”
and
silence
on
attacks
against
Hindus
in
neighbouring
countries.
The
Chief
Minister
referred
to
the
killing
of
a
Dalit
youth
in
Bangladesh
and
contrasted
this
with
protests
over
events
in
the
Gaza
Strip,
alleging
that
responses
are
shaped
by
“vote
bank
and
appeasement
politics”.

He
told
Opposition
members,
“You
people
shed
tears
over
everything
that
happens
in
the
Gaza
Strip,
but
not
a
single
word
comes
out
of
your
mouths
when
a
Dalit
youth
was
killed
in
Bangladesh,”
and
argued
that
such
reactions
expose
political
calculations.
Adityanath
further
said
the
creation
of
Pakistan
and
Bangladesh
had
led
to
repeated
incidents
targeting
Hindus
in
those
nations.

Continuing
the
attack,
Adityanath
said,
“You
hold
candle
marches
over
Gaza,
but
when
a
Hindu
is
killed
in
Pakistan
or
Bangladesh,
your
mouths
are
shut
because
the
victim
is
a
Hindu,
a
Dalit,”
and
demanded
an
institutional
response.
The
Chief
Minister
added
that
the
Assembly
should
speak
with
one
voice
on
the
Bangladesh
killing
and
urged
a
formal
message
to
Dhaka.

Calling
for
a
formal
step,
Adityanath
said,
“A
condemnation
resolution
should
come
from
the
Leader
of
the
Opposition.
We
condemn
this
incident
and
warn
the
Bangladesh
government,”
and
asserted
that
security
concerns
for
Hindus
abroad
were
linked
to
his
wider
“security
first”
line
at
home,
including
strict
action
on
encroachment
and
crime.
