At least 60 ornithologists, birdwatchers and Forest Department officials will enumerate the bird species in Godavari estuary, Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary and its adjoining areas in Kakinada and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema districts, on Monday.
The experts from the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) and Wildlife Institute of India will participate in the enumeration to be done in the 12 water bodies as part of the Asian Waterbird Census-2026.
BNHS deputy director and Asian Waterbird Census National coordinator P. Sathiyaselvan, International Bird Conservation Network Andhra Pradesh coordinator Mrutyunjaya Rao, Kakinada District Forest Officer N. Ramachandra Rao and other officials will lead the census.
