Rashmi Group, an Indian industrial conglomerate known for manufacture of ductile iron pipes, has decided to set up a steel production unit in Telangana with an estimated investment of ₹12,500 crore and a potential to create 12,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana Rising delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during the World Economic Forum meeting at Davos. Group promoter Sajjan Kumar Patwari and director Sanjib Kumar Patwari met the Chief Minister led delegation and expressed willingness to set up steel plant in the State.
Mr. Revanth Reddy congratulated Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu for securing the investment that would support the State in its aggressive growth trajectory in future. Mr. Sridhar Babu explained that the State’s commitment to drive economic development was evident in its diverse industrial landscape, with a special focus on manufacturing.
The State transformed into an industrial powerhouse with progressive policies and the Government was prepared to provide all possible support including coal supply linkages needed to establish the steel plant.
Mr. Sanjib Kumar said the steel plant would involve labour intensive manufacturing and had potential to provide large scale employment. The delegation exchanged views on potential partnerships especially in areas like green manufacturing and circular economy. Rashmi Group expressed interest in collaborating with the State Government on energy efficient steel manufacturing and slag utilisation aligned with the State’s sustainability goals.
AB InBev to make significant investments in expansion
AB InBev, one of the largest brewers, said it would invest a significant amount for expanding its existing facility in Telangana. AB InBev chief legal and corporate affairs officer, John Blood, made the announcement during his meeting with the Chief Minister led Telangana Rising delegation at the World Economic Forum meeting.
The company provided employment to 600 people with two manufacturing plants in the State and had operational presence in over 50 countries. The new investment in expansion would generate significant additional revenue every year for the State.
Expressing happiness over AB InBev’s announcement, the Chief Minister said revenue generation and capacity building were key to the State’s roadmap for becoming $3 trillion economy by 2047 as envisaged in the Telangana Rising vision. Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu said political stability, world class infrastructure and ease of doing business enabled the State to build sustained investor confidence and position it as an investment magnet.
The meeting also focused on potential areas of engagement like circular water use, CSR spending in Telangana with focus on women empowerment, education and skill development.
