The Neyveli police seized 21 kgs of ganja and arrested six peddlers including a woman in this connection on Saturday.
According to Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, following a tip-off on the sale of ganja, a team was on patrol near the Arch gate in Neyveli when they found two persons moving under suspicious circumstances. The team nabbed the duo identified as Abilesh Guru, 28 and Alisha, 24 of Odisha.
Investigations by the police revealed that the duo had smuggled the ganja from Odisha for supply to peddlers here. Based on the information provided by them, the police arrested Kutti Deva alias Vandiyadevan, 24 and Sudhakar, 27 of Neyveli, Chandru alias Ajith, 26 of Kurunjipadi and Jeeva, 25 of Cuddalore.
The six were produced before a local court and remanded to custody.
