Billie Eilish, James Cameron Concert Film Delayed

Date:

The premiere date of Billie Eilish‘s concert film by James Cameron has been delayed by almost two months, the duo announced Monday (Jan. 26).

Originally slated for a late March release, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D) will now arrive in theaters on May 8. Sharing photos of himself and the pop star hard at work reviewing footage in the edit room, Cameron wrote on Instagram, “We’re refining the cut; dialing in cool, new 3D tech; adding some special behind-the-scenes we know you’ll love.”

“HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D) will now release Friday, May 8th,” the Avatar filmmaker continued in his caption. “Worth the wait!”

The nine-time Grammy winner echoed Cameron’s sentiment by resharing his post on her Story, writing, “promise it will be worth the wait.”

The Oscars winners (she has two, he has three) have been keeping fans in anticipation of the film for months, unleashing the trailer in December. In the preview, Cameron promised, “No one’s shot a concert film on this scale before.”

The movie will compile footage from Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour, which spanned 106 shows in 2024-2025. It supported her 2024 album of the same name, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

The singer first teased that she and Cameron had something in the works at her first tour show in Manchester, England, in July. While on stage at the city’s Co-Op Live, Eilish told fans, “You may have noticed there’s more cameras than usual here … I can’t say much about it, but what I can say is I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s gonna be in 3D.”
