Jessie J has offered more details about her emotional encounter with Kate Middleton.
The “Bang Bang” singer shared what she and Princess of Wales—who like herself, has battled cancer—said to one another during their conversation at the Royal Variety Performance at Royal Albert Hall in London in November.
“She just said, ‘Thank you,'” Jessie recalled during an interview with Good Morning America, released on Dec. 5. “She said, ‘I know you’ve gone through a tough time,’ and I said, ‘I know you have too.'”
The 37-year-old—mom to son Sky, 2, with boyfriend Chanan Colman—continued, “And I said, ‘I just want to acknowledge that mum to mum, cancer survivor to cancer survivor, I see you and I feel you. Can I give you a hug?’ She said, ‘Of course you can.’ I’m grateful she received it in the way it was meant.”
Kate—who shares kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with husband Prince William—announced in January that she was in remission following her own cancer battle, which she first shared in March 2024 and which included several months of chemotherapy.
