The Zilla Parishad general body meeting held here on Saturday deliberated on speeding up welfare implementation, enhancing infrastructure and guaranteeing transparency in key schemes in Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamayya districts.

Addressing the meeting, Chittoor Collector Sumit Kumar said the State government was committed to ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries get welfare schemes with assistance from people’s representatives. He reiterated that the urea stocks were sufficiently available across the three districts.

The Collector said that under MGNREGS, 2,342 cattle-shed projects were approved during the ‘Palle Pragathi’ initiative, of which 620 have been finished and 1,182 are under way. He stated that qualified dairy farmers can still submit applications in their respective mandals.

Under the PMAGY initiative, a sum of ₹20 lakh will be allocated for infrastructure enhancement in every SC/ST Colony under the purview of the Chittoor Zilla Parishad.

The district counts 66,941 widow pension recipients, while additional approvals await State authorisation. Within the State housing initiative 72,763 homes have been approved, amounting to ₹1,349.88 crore, with 53,382 finished.

The Collector called for increased awareness about scrub typhus, recommending safety measures for individuals working on farms near forest edges and in cattle sheds.

ZP Chairman Govindappa Srinivasulu said that construction of Gokul sheds for dairy farmers had started in the three districts. He added that several development projects were approved for Kuppam constituency, with directives given to Panchayat Raj, Roads and Buildings, and Housing engineers to speed up the implementation.
