Date:

The Skill Development division of the KL Deemed to be University conducted the final slot (Slot 2) of the third phase of “Skill Palaver” for the academic year 2025–26 from February 28 to March 1.

A statement issued on Sunday said ‘Skill Palaver’ is a structured, project-driven hackathon framework implemented across both semesters to enhance students’ industry readiness through experiential learning and outcome-based competency development. The initiative integrates domain-specific hackathons into professional electives and industry-aligned skill courses using a three-phase model — Learnathon, Review, and Final Hackathon, ensuring progressive skill development, sustained industry mentoring, and measurable performance outcomes.

A total of 5,546 students from various disciplines participated and the hackathons spanned emerging and advanced domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, IoT, Autonomous Vehicles, 5G Technology, Blockchain, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, Structural Engineering, Design and Analysis and Game Design.

As a measurable outcome, around 70% of the participating students demonstrated industry readiness in emerging technology domains. Industry experts noted that nearly 60% of the students achieved AI readiness by effectively leveraging AI tools and frameworks to develop functional prototypes and deployable solutions during the hackathon.

Principal, College of Engineering, V. Rajesh designed and implemented the framework, while the programme was led by Dean – Skill Development A. Srinath, in coordination with the heads of departments and designated domain SPOCs. The event was organised under the guidance of vice-chancellor G.P.S. Varma and pro vice-chancellor Venkatram.
