The Sivaganga police have launched an investigation, but officials noted that a lack of CCTV cameras at the MP’s office has made it difficult to establish a precise timeline of the attack.

“We are currently scanning security footage from neighboring buildings and commercial establishments to track the movement of suspects,” said a senior police official. “Special teams have been formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police R. Shiva Prasad to identify the perpetrators.”

Karti Chidambaram is serving as a Congress MP from Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu. Born on November 16, 1971, in Chennai, he is the son of senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram.

He lost the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Sivaganga but won in 2019 with 52.36% votes and again in 2024 with 427,677 votes (40.6%), defeating AIADMK’s Xavierdass A by over 205,000 votes.

He manages ventures like Advantage Strategic Consulting, involved in consulting, hospitality (e.g., Kaiser Luxury Hotels), and investments abroad.
