Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has accused YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of trying to have the Tirumala Parakamani theft case compromised in Lok Adalat, adding that the latter had also tried to settle the murder case of his uncle Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.
“This was atrocious. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy did not consider the Parakamani case as a serious matter for obvious reasons,” the Chief Minister said during an informal chat with the media at the TDP central office near Mangalagiri on Saturday.
Mr. Naidu said the comment made by Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy that the Parakamani theft was a small case was shocking and it hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees of Lord Venkateswara.
Through his words and actions, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy showed his lack of respect for the Lord of the Seven Hills and the sanctity of Hindu temples. To say that since the stolen money was returned, Parakamani theft should not be considered as wrongdoing at all was highly unethical and amounted to trivialising the sacred offerings made by devotees to Lord Venkateswara, he said.
In response to a question, Mr. Naidu said that the government was giving priority to law and order. “In Vizianagaram and Nellore, which were known for their peace and tranquillity, criminal activities were going on brazenly. The government is taking the necessary steps to curb the menace,” he said.
Capital city
Referring to the construction of the capital city, Mr. Naidu said issues that hindered the development of Amaravati were being settled amicably. He said the positive outcomes can be seen since his meeting with the farmers who gave their lands under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS).
“The LPS-2 process is underway smoothly as the farmers have given their consent for it,” said the Chief Minister.
The construction of the capital city gained momentum and issues were being resolved one by one, he said, while noting that some individuals who were unable to digest the progress were trying to create problems.
