The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a senior assistant in the office of the Tahsildar at Bazarhathnoor in Adilabad district for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh for processing a land registration file.
The accused official, identified as Katkam Vidya Sagar Reddy, Senior Assistant in the Tahsildar’s office, was trapped on Thursday, January 22, at around 5.10 p.m. by ACB officials of the Adilabad range while accepting the bribe from a complainant.
The bribe was allegedly sought for processing and forwarding a file related to Sada Binama registration of 8.35 acres of land in favour of the complainant located in Survey No. 11/A at Balanpur Shivar.
ACB officials said the tainted bribe amount was recovered from the possession of the accused officer at his instance.
The accused will be produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases at Karimnagar. The case is under investigation and the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB appealed to the public to report demands for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064, assuring confidentiality to complainants.
