BE:FIRST’s ‘Lighting up the town’ Hits No. 1 on Japan Hot 100

Date:

BE:FIRST’s “Lighting up the town” blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, on the chart released Dec. 17.

The song serves as a Christmas tie-in for FamilyMart, with the group’s members also appearing in the convenience store chain’s campaign commercials. The track leads radio airplay and video views, while hitting No. 2 for downloads and No. 5 for streaming to earn BE:FIRST its tenth No. 1 on the Japan Hot 100.

Kenshi Yonezu’s “IRIS OUT” slips a notch to No. 2. While overall points for the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc theme are down, CD sales rise to 109% of the prior frame and radio surges to 204%. Launching at No. 3 is NOT EQUAL ME’s “Haitateki Fighter.” Released Dec. 10 as the title track of the group’s 11th single, the song sold 401,223 copies to take No. 1 in sales.

HANA’s “NON STOP” follows at No. 4, jumping three spots from last week. Radio climbs to 417% of the week before, while streaming rises to 290%. Bowing at No. 5 is Naniwa Danshi’s “Never Romantic,” which logs 32,513 downloads to lead the metric, while coming in at No. 73 for streaming, No. 68 for radio and No. 11 for video.

In other chart moves, Snow Man’s “CHARISMAX” returns to the top 10 for the first time in about three months. The boy band’s performance of the song on the 2025 FNS MUSIC FESTIVAL live music program sparked renewed attention, driving gains in both video and streaming for a second straight week.

Also, multiple Christmas favorites enter the chart as the holiday season approaches, including Tatsuro Yamashita’s “Christmas Eve” at No. 30, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” at No. 54, and Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” at No. 61.

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, video views and karaoke data.
