Chennai–Bengaluru Double Decker’s New Tiruvallur Stop Remains Only on Paper for Now

about
the
new
stop
at
Tiruvallur,
which
is
supposed
to
start
on
January
26,
2026.
But
here’s
the
catch-nobody
can
book
tickets
to
or
from
Tiruvallur
yet.
Even
though
officials
have
confirmed
the
new
halt,
Tiruvallur
still
doesn’t
show
up
as
an
option
in
the
Passenger
Reservation
System
(PRS).
This
has
thrown
regular
passengers
into
a
bit
of
a
mess.

Adding
a
stop
for
Train
Nos.
22625
and
22626
isn’t
just
a
random
decision.
Tiruvallur
station
handles
nearly
a
lakh
passengers
every
day
and
acts
as
a
major
hub
in
the
suburbs.
Southern
Railway
announced
the
stoppage
in
their
circulars,
so
people
started
hoping
this
would
ease
the
rush
on
suburban
trains
and
finally
give
them
a
faster,
reserved
option.

But
when
people
head
to
PRS
counters
or
check
online,
they
can’t
find
Tiruvallur
in
the
list.
So,
even
though
the
decision
is
out
there,
it
doesn’t
matter
until
the
reservation
system
actually
catches
up.

Commuters
told
Railway
Supply
that
Tiruvallur
links
up
several
suburban
lines
with
longer
routes,
and
many
were
ready
to
switch
over
to
the
Double
Decker
Express
as
soon
as
the
halt
was
active.
Now,
those
plans
are
on
hold
until
the
PRS
update
comes
through.

K
Bhaskar,
who
used
to
be
with
the
Divisional
Railway
Users’
Consultative
Committee
(DRUCC),
called
out
the
problem.
He
pointed
out
that
passengers
still
can’t
book
tickets
for
Tiruvallur-even
though
the
stop
is
official.
He
pressed
railway
authorities
to
get
the
system
updated
fast
so
people
aren’t
stuck
waiting.

Southern
Railway
officials
admit
there’s
a
delay.
They
said
PRS
updates
usually
take
anywhere
from
two
days
to
a
week
after
changes
are
announced.
Right
now,
they’re
working
to
get
Tiruvallur
into
the
booking
system
for
both
trains
and
promise
it’ll
be
sorted
out
soon.

Bhaskar
also
brought
up
another
issue.
Since
the
PRS
NDLS
system
upgrade,
superfast
charges
are
being
collected
but
aren’t
printed
on
tickets
anymore.
He
says
this
problem
started
in
November
2025-never
happened
under
the
old
PRS
MAS
system.
He
filed
a
complaint
about
a
month
ago,
but
there’s
still
no
reply.

With
Tiruvallur
being
so
important
for
daily
commuters,
passengers
just
want
the
tech
and
railway
teams
to
sync
up
quickly.
They’re
hoping
both
the
new
halt
and
the
ticketing
hassles
get
sorted
out
before
it
drags
on
any
longer.
