The Idukki District Court was placed on high alert on Thursday after receiving a bomb threat via email. According to officials, the threat was sent to the District Judge’s official email address under the name of a “Tamil Liberation” organisation.
The email warned that an “Easter-style” model blast, that held in 2019 in Sri Lanka, would be carried out at the court. Following the threat, court proceedings were immediately suspended. Police, along with dog and bomb squads, rushed to the scene and evacuated the judge, lawyers, and public to conduct a search of the premises.
Nothing suspicious was found during the search. The court proceedings resumed after 2:30 p.m. Police are continuing their investigation to trace the origin of the email.
