has
issued
a
fervent
plea
for
intervention
after
alleging
that
her
husband
abandoned
her
and
is
now
preparing
for
a
secret
second
marriage
in
Delhi.

Her
video
appeal,
addressed
to
Prime
Minister
Narendra
Modi,
has
drawn
widespread
attention
and
renewed
focus
on
cross-border
marital
disputes.

Nikita’s
Marriage
and
Sudden
Abandonment

Nikita
Nagdev,
a
resident
of
Karachi,
says
she
married
Vikram
Nagdev
on
January
26,
2020,
in
Karachi
according
to
Hindu
customs.
Vikram,
a
Pakistani-origin
man
residing
in
Indore
on
a
long-term
visa,
brought
her
to
India
a
month
later
on
February
26.
What
began
as
a
hopeful
start
quickly
turned
into
a
nightmare,
Nikita
alleges.

According
to
her
account,
Vikram
left
her
at
the
Attari
border
on
July
9,
2020,
under
the
pretext
of
a
visa
issue
and
forced
her
to
return
to
Pakistan.
She
says
he
has
not
made
any
effort
since
then
to
bring
her
back.
“I
kept
requesting
him
to
call
me
to
India,
but
he
refused
every
time,” she
said
in
her
emotional
video
message.

“Women
Will
Lose
Faith
in
Justice”

From
Karachi,
Nikita
recorded
a
video
appeal
that
has
since
gone
viral.
“If
justice
is
not
served
today,
women
will
lose
faith
in
justice.
Many
girls
face
physical
and
mental
abuse
in
their
marital
homes.
I
request
everyone
to
stand
with
me,”
she
said.

She
also
described
the
change
in
behaviour
she
encountered
from
her
in-laws
soon
after
marriage.
“When
I
returned
to
my
in-laws’ home
from
Pakistan,
their
behaviour
completely
changed.
I
learned
my
husband
was
having
an
affair
with
one
of
my
relatives.
When
I
told
my
father-in-law,
he
said,
‘Boys
have
affairs,
nothing
can
be
done.'”

Nikita
further
said
that
during
the
COVID-19
lockdown,
she
was
pressured
to
return
to
Pakistan
and
has
since
been
denied
re-entry.
“Every
woman
deserves
justice
in
India,”
she
stated.

Complaint
Filed
as
Husband
Prepares
Second
Marriage

Once
back
in
Karachi,
Nikita
discovered
that
Vikram
was
preparing
for
a
second
marriage
with
a
woman
from
Delhi.
Feeling
betrayed
and
threatened
by
the
possibility
of
being
replaced
while
still
legally
married,
she
filed
a
written
complaint
on
January
27,
2025.

Her
case
reached
the
Sindhi
Panch
Mediation
and
Legal
Counsel
Centre,
which
operates
under
authorisation
from
the
Madhya
Pradesh
High
Court.
Notices
were
served
to
Vikram
and
the
woman
he
planned
to
marry.
A
hearing
followed,
but
mediation
failed.
The
panel
reported
on
April
30,
2025,
that
because
neither
spouse
is
an
Indian
citizen,
the
issue
falls
under
Pakistan’s
jurisdiction
and
recommended
Vikram’s
deportation.

Into
the
Case

This
is
not
the
first
time
the
matter
has
surfaced
in
Indore.
In
May
2025,
Nikita
approached
the
Indore
Social
Panchayat,
which
echoed
the
call
for
Vikram’s
deportation.
Indore
Collector
Ashish
Singh
confirmed
that
an
inquiry
was
initiated
and
said
appropriate
action
would
be
taken
based
on
the
findings.
