Left Democratic Front (LDF)’s T.V. Valsala was elected president of the Koppam grama panchayat on Saturday (December 27, 2025) through a draw of lots, defeating United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Jamsheera Shihab Ali.
In the previous term as well, both the president and vice-president of Koppam were chosen by a draw of lots.
In the Thrithala block panchayat, where the LDF and UDF have eight members each, LDF’s P.R. Kunhunni was also selected as block panchayat president through a draw of lots.
