The vinyl release features “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)” alongside an instrumental and “practice” version of the song. It also has “Court Watchers (Narration & Original Score by Fiona Apple),” taken from the 2023 documentary short, on its B Side. Those who buy the release can expect a special etched vinyl, an engraved sleeve, cover art drawn by Apple, and a randomly inserted, limited amount of photo cards signed by Apple herself.
“Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)” continues Apple’s long legacy of merging politics with art. Apple utilized the press cycle for her last album, 2020’s Fetch The Boltcutters, to shine a light on the injustices facing indigenous women. For example, she did a co-interview with Eryn Wise, an indigenous organizer with Seeding Sovereignty, to discuss the album on Democracy Now!
