Former Kerala High Court judge A. Lakshmikutty passed away after a brief illness at her residence in Thiruvananthapuram. She was 81.
Following a distinguished legal career spanning 17 years as an advocate, she was appointed as a District Judge in 1987 and was posted at Kollam. She later served as District Judge in Mavelikkara, Pathanamthitta, Thodupuzha and Alappuzha.
Lakshmikutty was elevated as a judge of the Kerala High Court in 2000. After her retirement in 2004, she continued her public service in several key roles including as a member of the Kerala State Human Rights Commission and chairperson of the Kerala State Fishermen Debt Relief Commission. She had also headed an interim committee appointed by the Indian Red Cross Society to manage its Kerala State branch.
The funeral rites will be held at her residence in Ambalathara on Wednesday.
