Former mayors attended a pre-budget meeting convened at the council hall of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) on January 7. They shared their suggestions ahead of the preparation of the civic body’s annual budget.
Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil, who is also the MCC Administrator, presided over the meeting. MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif and senior officials of the corporation were present.
Former mayors Sandesh Swamy, Shivakumar, Byrappa, Lingappa, and others participated in the discussions and offered their views, particularly on improving the corporation’s revenue and restoring Mysuru’s status as one of the cleanest cities in the country. A former mayor suggested adopting best practices followed by Indore, consistently ranked as the cleanest city, and addressing long-pending civic issues affecting residents.
Issues related to tax collection and revenue generation were discussed in detail. MCC officials stated that revenue collection had improved compared to the previous year, adding that the corporation had laid special emphasis on strengthening tax collection methods.
