Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar on Tuesday carried out the annual inspection of Dharmavaram Two-Town Circle police station, instructing police personnel to check illegal activities and maintain law and order. The SP reviewed station records, long-pending cases, NDPS files, and the functioning of the lock-up and reception areas.

Inspecting the women’s help desk, the SP instructed the officials to give top priority to grievances from women and ensure their speedy resolution. All police personnel at the divisional and mandal levels were cautioned to treat all complainants with respect and maintain transparency in record-keeping. Mr. Satish Kumar further assessed the status of seized vehicles and enquired about the working conditions and issues faced by staff.

Referring to the ensuing local body elections, the SP directed the officials to ensure heightened surveillance in faction-hit villages, apart from intensified action against illegal liquor, sand smuggling, gutka, matka, gambling and cricket betting. Highlighting the need for visible policing, the SP ordered for increased night patrolling and strict monitoring of rowdy-sheeters and repeat offenders.

Meanwhile, the SP supervised the district’s safety initiatives, instructing the officials to launch extensive awareness campaigns on the ‘Shakti’ mobile app. Highlighting its role in ensuring the security of women and girls, the SP called for regular demonstrations to be held for ASHA workers, students and women at government institutions all over Sri Sathya Sai district.

The SP urged all women and girl students to compulsorily download and register on the Shakti app. He informed the field officers to explain features such as the SOS button and the 112 emergency response to the target group, assuring that police would reach within minutes during distress. “A massive awareness should also be created among them regarding cyberfraud, child abuse, domestic violence and key helpline numbers, including 100, 112, 1098, 181 and 1930,” Mr. Satish Kumar said.
