Gujarat has launched an Asset Safety Monitoring Portal to track more than 150,000 public assets, including roads, bridges, and government buildings. The state-level system will use GIS location mapping, photographs, custodian details, and unique digital IDs. Field officers will upload inspection reports, while district and municipal leaders conduct regular reviews.

Gujarat has started using an Asset Safety Monitoring Portal to track more than 1.5 lakh public assets. Officials said on Tuesday that the system will monitor government infrastructure at the state level. The aim is to prevent unsafe structures from putting citizens at risk. The portal covers roads, bridges, buildings, and other civic facilities.

A recent directive from the General Administration Department (GAD) set out the plan. As per an official release, all existing government and public infrastructure will be reviewed in one integrated system. More than 1.5 lakh assets across Gujarat will be registered on a single central digital platform. Officials said this will create a unified way to track safety issues.

Each asset entry will include GIS-based location mapping and photographs for identification. The record will also list the custodian officer responsible for the asset. A unique digital identity will be assigned to every road, bridge, building, or facility. Officials said this helps scientific tracking and supports continuous monitoring of asset lifespan.

Field officers will upload inspection reports and photographs using digital logins on the portal. This is meant to keep inspection records in one place. Officials said the portal reduces the risk of missing paperwork across departments. It also creates a clear trail of what was checked and what action was taken.

Asset Safety Monitoring Portal sets reviews for district officials in Gujarat

District collectors and municipal corporation commissioners will carry out weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews. These checks are intended to ensure local findings reach senior officials quickly. In-charge secretaries will issue required directives during district visits. Officials said the process links field inspection updates with follow-up decisions.

The state has set up a dedicated Asset Safety Monitoring Cell within the GAD for daily oversight. The cell will monitor updates at the state level and send regular reports to the Chief Secretary. Officials said this creates a single monitoring line across districts. The aim is to keep administrative action consistent and track progress.

Asset Safety Monitoring Portal uses alerts to flag inspection and repair needs in Gujarat

The Bhupendra Patel government has added an automated inspection calendar and real-time alerts to the portal. Officials said the system is designed so structural weakness, inspection delays, and repair needs do not go unnoticed. Alerts are expected to push timely action by departments. The unified digital system is meant to keep every level accountable.
