INDIA bloc holds State-wide protest urging withdrawal of VB-G RAM G Act

Date:

The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance on Thursday, held a State-wide protest urging the withdrawal of the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill. (President Droupadi Murmu had on Sunday granted assent to the Bill.). The protest also condemned the BJP government for bringing in the Bill and the AIADMK for providing a helping hand to the BJP.

In a post on X, Chief Minister M K Stalin said poor agricultural labourers protested in 389 locations across the State demanding the revival of Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) which has been repealed now.

“This voice from Tamil Nadu echoes on behalf of farmers across India, which must be realised by the BJP rulers at the Centre who are acting with hostility towards Gandhi.  The livelihoods of the poor should be assured. Save MNREGA. Revoke VB-GRAMG,” Mr. Stalin added.

Speaking at the protest in Chennai, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko said just like how Godse killed Gandhi, now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has killed Gandhi’s name, people will not forgive it.

VCK president, Thol. Thirumavalavan, CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam, DMK organising secretary R.S. Bharathi, among other leaders in the alliance, participated in the protest.
