A Korean delegation handed over advanced surveillance equipment worth ₹15.5 lakh to Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar at a programme in Penukonda in Sri Sathya Sai district, on Tuesday. Responding to the gesture, the SP said that the crime prevention efforts in the district would receive a major boost with the availability of the strategic equipment.
Speaking to the media, the SP said that the equipment included six Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) CCTV cameras, each valued at ₹58,000, a night-vision drone costing ₹7.5 lakh, and a day-vision drone worth ₹3.5 lakh. The advanced devices will be deployed under the Penukonda police sub-division to strengthen monitoring, enhance situational awareness and improve the detection of offenders.
Mr. Satish Kumar said the new technology would significantly assist in curbing illegal activities and ensuring swift investigation into many key cases. “ANPR cameras and drones are force multipliers. They help record crucial evidence, track suspects and respond proactively to emerging threats. Their use will further strengthen peace and law and order across the district,” he said. He further urged philanthropists and corporate groups to partner with the police in expanding CCTV coverage.
The Korean donors included Korean Association in Bengaluru and Andhra Pradesh (KABA) chairman Jung Young Ho, vice-chairman Jin Wooyoung, and senior advisers Ra Byung Gi, Kim Tae Hyup, and Seak Yungle, who were felicitated by the SP.
