No interim order could be passed in favour of the de-registered parties since it would amount to allowing their writ petitions and permitting them to contest the Assembly election, the HC said.

The Madras High Court on Monday dismissed a public interest litigation petition filed to prevent the slaughtering of animals either within or behind the retail shops that sell mutton, chicken, or beef, and ensure it takes place only in authorised slaughterhouses of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

A special Division Bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice R. Suresh Kumar refused to entertain the PIL petition since the PIL petitioner S. Muralidharan of Chennai had not listed out any specific instance of such practice happening in retail shops but for making a general allegation.
