Man killed as auto hits wild boar in Kannur

Date:

A 45-year-old fish vendor was killed after the autorickshaw he was driving overturned when a wild boar suddenly ran across the road at Kathirur 3rd Mile in the early hours of Monday (February 16).

The deceased was identified as N. Pradeepan of Naravoor near Kuthuparamba. He was returning home after procuring fish from the Thalassery market.

According to residents, the accident occurred when a wild boar abruptly crossed the road, causing Pradeepan to lose control of the vehicle. The autorickshaw overturned, leaving him critically injured. Bystanders rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors could not save his life.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the increasing movement of wild animals onto roads in the region, particularly during early morning and late night hours. The police have registered a case, and further proceedings are underway.
