Minister inspects Vijayawada Rythu Bazaar, directs officials to ensure fair pricing and better sanitation

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Nadendla Manohar on Tuesday (December 02, 2025) conducted a surprise inspection at the Vijayawada Patamata Rythu Bazaar to review vegetable prices, availability of essential produce, and sanitation conditions.

Speaking after the inspection, the Minister stressed that the State government’s foremost priority is to ensure that the public has access to quality agricultural products at fair and affordable prices.

Mr. Manohar interacted directly with the consumers and vendors to understand ground-level issues and gathered feedback regarding price fluctuations and supply shortages. Several customers informed the Minister that commonly purchased vegetables such as cluster beans, broad beans and tomatoes, which are usually supplied from Anantapur, were unavailable at the market in the recent days. Responding to the concerns, the Minister instructed officials to take immediate steps to ensure an uninterrupted supply of all essential vegetables across markets.

He also directed officials to monitor the quality of rice and other food grains sold in the Rythu Bazaar and ensure that no substandard products enter the retail chain. Expressing dissatisfaction over the upkeep and maintenance of the premises, Manohar ordered officials to improve sanitation and hygiene throughout the market and surrounding areas without delay.

The Minister emphasised the need for enhanced public service delivery and urged officials to remain attentive to consumer needs. He said that the State government is committed to strengthening market monitoring systems and maintaining transparency to protect consumer interests. Rythu Bazaar officer M. Ramesh and other department officials accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
