Moby has urged fans to “stop supporting the scumbag corporations that support Donald Trump and ICE” in a new social media post. Check it out below.
The electronic music icon shared a video to social media yesterday (Monday January 26), responding to the killing of Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis last week.
On Saturday morning, an United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed Pretti after a brief altercation during a “targeted” immigration enforcement operation.
The Trump administration continues to claim that it was an act of self-defence, but according to eye witness accounts and multiple videos taken at the scene, the 37-year-old nurse was unarmed at the time of the shooting. Pretti’s family said that he had a permit to carry a concealed handgun in the state, as per Associated Press.
The fatal shooting of the ICU nurse came just two weeks after ICE agents in Minneapolis also shot and killed Renee Nicole Good.
Taking to social media, Moby offered his outlook on how people outraged by the killings can respond, urging them to stop supporting “scumbag corporations” that have shown backing for Donald Trump.
“The question is not whether we should be outraged and horrified at what’s happening in the United States, but rather what are we going to do about it,” he began in the clip, before going on to tell people that they should protest as it is a “constitutionally established right” they have, despite “Trump and his administration are trying to take [it] away from us.”
As well as protesting, he also advised people to “stop supporting the scumbag corporations who support Trump and ICE” and vote, “not just in the upcoming midterms, although that’s very important, but in all of the special elections that happen throughout the year”.
To wrap up, Moby asked people to show backing for politicians who are “dedicated to opposing Trump and ICE”, and also look after their own wellbeing so that they can “be a strong and healthy activist tomorrow and every day for the rest of your life”.
“Be outraged, be horrified, but as Joe Strummer said, anger can be power if you know how to use it,” he concluded.
He joins a growing list of artists who are speaking out against ICE, particularly since the killing of Pretti and Good.
Finneas calls out conservative hypocrisy regarding gun laws and the death of Alex Pretti at the hands of federal agents:
“The conservative argument that allows school shootings to continue has always basically boiled down to, ‘We have to protect the second amendment. We have to… pic.twitter.com/YnuDvZmnTB

Artist and producer Finneas spoke out about the death of Pretti at the hands of ICE in a video, calling out conservatives’ hypocritical gun law arguments in attempting to justify the fatal shooting of the 37-year-old nurse.
His sister, and fellow Grammy winning pop star Billie Eilish then re-shared that video and added her own statement, saying: “Hey my fellow celebrities u gonna speak up? Or…”
Olivia Rodrigo took to Instagram Stories to share her thoughts on the situation, writing: “ICE’s actions are unconscionable, but we are not powerless. Our actions matter. I stand with Minnesota.”
The comments from Billie Eilish come following the singer criticising ICE earlier this month too after Renee Good was killed by an ICE agent. In response, she called the agency a “federally funded and supported terrorist group” that was “tearing apart families, terrorising citizens, and now murdering innocent people”, reposted a call on the US to “abolish ICE”, and listed 32 people who reportedly died in ICE custody last year.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) subsequently responded to Eilish: “It’s garbage rhetoric from the likes of Billie Eilish that is leading to a 1,300 per cent increase in assaults and 3,200 per cent increase in vehicle rammings against our brave law enforcement.”
Other famous faces to have spoken out against the Trump administration and ICE recently include Green Day, Bruce Springsteen – who told ICE to “get the fuck out of Minneapolis” – Sabrina Carpenter, Neil Young, Zara Larsson, musician and Stranger Things star Joe Keery, Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal, Duran Duran, Dave Matthews and more.
As for Moby, the electronic music star is set to play just one London gig this summer, as well as a huge headline show at Brighton Beach. He also announced his 23rd studio album, ‘Future Quiet’, which is set to arrive on February 20 via BMG. Pre-order it here.
