Naidupeta Urban CI, head constable caught in ACB net

Date:

Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Tirupathi Range, nabbed Naidupeta Urban police station Circle Inspector and head constable while they were allegedly accepting ₹30,000 bribe from a wine shop owner.

The CI, Mathangi Bobby, and the head constable Kolluru Ramamohan Raju, who were allegedly collecting ₹15,000 as monthly kickbacks from the wine shop in Naidupeta town, were harassing the management for not paying the amount.

To mount pressure on the wine shop management, the CI reportedly registered a case against the shop manager alleging that illicit liquor was seized from the shop on January 20, 2026. Following this, the two allegedly demanded ₹45,000 as bribe and reduced the amount to ₹30,000 following requests from the management.

Acting on a complaint, the Tirupathi ACB Range officials laid a trap and arrested the CI and the head constable while they were accepting the bribe on Sunday. Searches were conducted on Naidupet Urban police station and the houses of the accused, and the two would be produced in the ACB Court in Nellore, the ACB officials said in a press release.
