Neither the AIADMK nor the leaders of its allies held any talks with actor-turned politician Vijay over forging an alliance for the April 23 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami categorically said in Chennai on Sunday.
Asked if he liked Mr. Vijay to join the AIADMK-led alliance, Mr. Palaniswami said: “As I have already said, neither the AIADMK nor the leaders of its allies have had a talk with the party you are referring to so far.”
Flanked by BJP’s State unit president Nainar Nagenthran and AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran, Mr. Palaniswami was replying to questions during an interaction with reporters after an Iftaar function. To a query on whether more political parties were likely to join the alliance and favourable conditions prevailed for such a scenario, Mr. Palaniswami said: “There are chances.”
