Grey’s Anatomy’s latest tragedy may have fans hoping to lay here and just forget the world.
The March 19 episode of the hit ABC series saw the budding romance between resident Lucas Adams (Niko Terho) and cancer patient Katie Rogers (Samantha Marie Ware) cut short as she ultimately succumbs to her illlness. However, many couldn’t help but point out that the devastating season 22 storyline brought back similar sentiments from one of the long-running medical drama’s most iconic moments.
Yep, none other than the ill-fated romance between Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stephens (Katherine Heigl) back in season two.
“I’m so sad they are pulling a Denny and Izzie AGAIN,” one Grey’s fan wrote on X as the March 19 episode aired. “They have so much chemistry.”
Another viewer said, “Wrap it up right now I cannot do another Denny and Izzie situation,” while a third person added, “It’s giving Izzie & Denny pt2…”
And it appears fans were certainly right. After all, both Denny and Izzie as well as Lucas and Katie met in the hospital under a doctor-patient relationship but went on to develop a beautiful love story that ended in tragedy.
