South Western Railway is set to disrupt train travel across the Bengaluru division in April 2026 due to essential maintenance at Level Crossing No. 50 between Mallasandra and Gubbi stations. The work requires temporary cancellations, partial terminations, diversions, and rescheduling of several key trains, impacting both daily commuters and long-distance passengers. Railway authorities have urged travellers to check revised schedules in advance, as these changes are crucial to ensure the safety, efficiency, and smooth operation of trains across this busy section.
South Western Railway (SWR) has issued an advisory regarding significant changes to train operations in the Bengaluru division throughout April 2026. The disruptions are linked to essential maintenance work at Level Crossing No. 50, located between Mallasandra and Gubbi stations. Travellers are advised to review the revised timetables before planning their journeys, as multiple services will be cancelled, partially curtailed, diverted, or rescheduled on specific dates to ensure safe and uninterrupted railway operations.
Major Train Cancellations and Partial Operations
A number of key trains will not operate during the maintenance period. The Chikkamagaluru–Yesvantpur–Chikkamagaluru Daily Express (Train No. 16239/16240) and the KSR Bengaluru–Mysuru Wodeyar Daily Express (Train No. 12614) are fully cancelled on April 8 and April 15. MEMU trains between Bengaluru and Tumakuru (Train No. 66567) and Tumakuru to Bengaluru (Train No. 66572) will also be cancelled on April 8, impacting regular commuter services.

Several trains will operate with limited coverage. The Talguppa–Bengaluru Daily Express (Train No. 20652) will terminate at Arsikere instead of continuing to Bengaluru on April 8, 11, 12, and 15. Likewise, the Bengaluru–Dharwad Siddaganga Daily Express (Train No. 12725) will start from Arsikere instead of Bengaluru, while the return Dharwad–Bengaluru service (Train No. 12726) will operate only up to Arsikere on the same dates.

To maintain service, several long-distance trains will follow detours during the crossing maintenance. The Vasco Da Gama–Yesvantpur Daily Express (Train No. 17310) departing on April 7 and 14 will skip Tumakuru and Tiptur, running instead via Arsikere, Hassan, and Nelamangala. Similarly, the Velankanni–Vasco Da Gama Weekly Express (Train No. 17316) on the same dates will follow a rerouted path via Chikbanavar, Nelamangala, Hassan, and Arsikere. The Yesvantpur–Shivamogga Town Daily Express (Train No. 20689) will follow the same diversion on April 8 and 15.
The Mysuru–Belagavi Vishwamanav Daily Superfast Express (Train No. 20676) will also operate via Mysuru, Hole Narsipur, Hassan, and Arsikere on April 8 and 15, bypassing scheduled halts between Pandavapura and Tiptur. These adjustments aim to ensure continuity of service while critical maintenance work is underway.
Regulations and Delayed Departures
Some trains will experience minor delays. The Vasco Da Gama–Yesvantpur Daily Express is expected to face a 20-minute regulation on April 10 and 11, while the Yesvantpur–Shivamogga Town Daily Express will experience approximately 60 minutes of regulation on April 11 and 12.
Other trains will depart later than usual. The Udaipur City–Mysuru Humsafar Weekly Express (Train No. 19667) will leave 200 minutes later on April 6 and 13, and the Shri Ganganagar–Tiruchchirappalli Humsafar Weekly Express (Train No. 22497) will be delayed by 150 minutes on the same dates.
Additional adjustments include the Yesvantpur–Hazrat Nizamuddin Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express (Train No. 12649), departing 30 minutes late on April 8 and 15, and the Hubballi–Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Superfast Express (Train No. 12777), departing 60 minutes later on April 8 and 15, with a further regulation of around 40 minutes en route.
South Western Railway will disrupt train services in Bengaluru division in April 2026 due to essential maintenance at Level Crossing No. 50, causing cancellations, diversions, and rescheduling of several key trains. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules to avoid inconvenience.
Passengers are urged to check official SWR updates and plan their journeys accordingly. The ongoing work at Level Crossing No. 50 is critical for improving safety and operational efficiency, and these temporary changes are designed to minimise disruption while the necessary upgrades are completed. By implementing cancellations, diversions, and rescheduling, SWR aims to ensure that railway services in the Bengaluru division continue to run safely and efficiently despite ongoing maintenance work.
