Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker Taught Us About Australia

Date:

A few months ago, Tame Impala released the bush doof-inspired album Deadbeat, and their single “Dracula” became their first-ever Hot 100 hit. Also a few months ago, Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker sat down with Stereogum kangaroo correspondent Rachel Brown for an interview. They didn’t talk about the new album, though. Instead, they just talked about Australia.

Stereogum kangaroo correspondent Rachel Brown has never been to Australia, so they just asked Kevin Parker about a list of topics provided by their Australian friends. The conversation touched on subjects like the prime minister who disappeared into the ocean, the differences between Sydney and Melbourne, and the use of the term “fair dinkum.” Bush doofs also figure into the conversation. Educate yourself on all Australian matters below.
