Thalapathy Vijay In Delhi CBI

Actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay is in New Delhi for the third round of CBI questioning on March 15, 2026, concerning the Karur stampede case, amidst the ECI’s expected announcement of Tamil Nadu Assembly election dates.

The development comes at a politically sensitive moment, as the Election Commission of India (ECI) is also likely to announce the Tamil Nadu Assembly election schedule today, adding fresh significance to every move by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief.

Vijay reaches Delhi as third round of CBI questioning is set for Sunday

According to the latest reports, Vijay travelled to the national capital and is set to appear before the CBI team for another round of questioning in the ongoing Karur stampede probe. This marks the third time the actor has been summoned in the case, with investigators expected to seek further clarification on certain aspects linked to the incident.

Reports said Vijay checked into the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi after landing in the city. Soon after, visuals of his vehicle entering the hotel premises surfaced on social media and quickly went viral among fans and political observers.

The timing of the questioning has drawn even more attention because Tamil Nadu is among the key states where the ECI is likely to announce Assembly election dates today. With Vijay having formally entered politics and positioning himself as a serious player ahead of the polls, the CBI appearance is expected to dominate headlines alongside the election build-up.

Earlier request for more time was turned down before short extension was granted

Vijay had earlier been asked to appear before the CBI on March 10, 2026. However, he reportedly sought additional time before joining the investigation.

As per reports, the actor initially requested a 15-day extension to appear before the agency, but the request was not accepted. The CBI is then said to have allowed only a limited relaxation, granting him five extra days to present himself before the probe team.

Following that decision, Vijay has now travelled to Delhi for the scheduled interrogation on March 15. The latest round of questioning is likely to keep the Karur stampede case firmly in the spotlight, especially at a time when Tamil Nadu’s political landscape is preparing for a crucial election cycle.

‘I don’t have anything left now, other than politics’: Vijay on his current priorities

Even as the investigation continues, Vijay has made it clear that his political ambitions are now at the centre of his public life.

At a recent public event, Vijay said: “I don’t have anything left now, other than politics.”

The remark has gained renewed traction as speculation intensifies over the ECI’s expected announcement of Tamil Nadu poll dates. With the state likely to head into a high-voltage campaign season soon, Vijay’s legal, political and public appearances are all being viewed through an electoral lens.

His growing visibility comes amid wider discussions over whether his star power can translate into votes in a state long shaped by the intersection of cinema and politics.

‘Jana Nayagan’ hits another hurdle as OTT rights deal reportedly falls through

Away from the political storm, Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan is also facing fresh uncertainty.

According to reports, the film’s OTT rights agreement has reportedly been cancelled amid the controversies surrounding the actor. A report claimed that a major streaming platform had earlier acquired the digital rights for around Rs 120 crore, but the deal has now allegedly been called off, throwing the project’s post-theatrical plans into doubt.

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is billed as a political action thriller and had originally been slated for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026. However, the film was delayed after it reportedly did not receive timely clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Since then, the project has continued to face setbacks, with the latest OTT development adding another layer of uncertainty to its release strategy.

Meanwhile, Vijay was last seen in the action entertainer GOAT.
