These concerns are particularly prevalent in popular coastal areas where natural landscapes are increasingly vulnerable.

A deep consciousness regarding the social and economic consequences of tourism is also maintained by Vietnamese travelers. Approximately 28 per cent of travelers believe that the most vital outcome of sustainable travel is the support of local livelihoods. Additionally, 45 per cent of participants expressed the belief that the greatest impact of responsibly managed tourism is the facilitation of economic growth for local businesses. This data indicates a strong collective desire to foster a tourism model that empowers the people living in these destinations.
Recognition of Authentic Local Experiences
The momentum of community-based tourism is evidenced by the international recognition of several Vietnamese locations. Five specific villages have been honored by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) as the Best Tourism Villages in the World. These include Tân Hoá village in central Quảng Trị Province, Thái Hải Village in northern Thái Nguyên Province, Trà Quế Vegetable Village in central Đà Nẵng City, Lô Chải Village in northern Tuyên Quang Province, and the Quỳnh Sơn Community Tourism Village in the northern province of Lạng Sơn.
