TT Jagannathan, affectionately known as the Kitchen Mogul of TTK Prestige Group, has been posthumously honoured with the Padma Shri. He passed away in October last year at 77. This prestigious award recognises his significant contributions to trade and industry. Jagannathan was instrumental in developing the GRS safety mechanism for pressure cookers and expanding Indian cookware’s global reach.
TTK Prestige Group’s Global Expansion
Under Jagannathan’s leadership, TTK Prestige evolved from a pressure cooker manufacturer into a comprehensive kitchen solutions brand. The company now offers a wide range of products, including cookware and electrical appliances. His efforts also led to the brand’s expansion into international markets like the US and the UK, making Prestige a household name beyond India.
Jagannathan’s influence extended beyond business; he made notable contributions to healthcare, sanitation, and education. A government statement highlighted these achievements on Sunday. As chairman emeritus of TTK Prestige at his passing, he left a lasting legacy in both industry and community service.
Innovative Leadership and Personal Achievements
A gold medallist from IIT Madras, Jagannathan also held a PhD in operations from Cornell University, USA. His passion for cooking often sparked his innovative ideas. He once remarked that his drive to innovate always began in the kitchen. This personal interest undoubtedly influenced his professional success.
Jagannathan served on TTK Prestige’s board for 50 years, playing a pivotal role in transforming the company into a debt-free entity. He authored “Disrupt And Conquer – How TTK Prestige Became A Billion Dollar Company,” sharing insights into his leadership journey and the company’s growth.
His remarkable career is marked by his ability to turn around the TTK Group’s fortunes. His strategic vision helped establish Prestige as a leader in kitchen solutions. The Padma Shri award is a fitting tribute to his enduring impact on trade and industry.
