VACB seizes unaccounted money from Bevco staff in Ernakulam

Date:

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has seized ₹80,150 in unaccounted cash from employees at a Beverages Corporation (Bevco) outlet at Athani near Nedumbassery.

The VACB detected the alleged discrepancy during a raid at the outlet on Saturday (January 31, 2026) night. “The raid was carried out following information that agents of foreign liquor companies were allegedly offering bribes to Bevco employees to boost the sales of their respective brands,” the VACB said in a release on Sunday (February 1, 2026).

During the inspection, the VACB squad also recovered three litres of Indian-made foreign liquor reportedly without bills or valid documents from vehicles belonging to Bevco staff members. The statement added that two employees on duty were under the influence of alcohol and two unauthorised persons were working at the outlet.
