Veeam to help train 1 million Indians in cyber resilience and AI skilling

BENGALURU – Veeam Software said on Wednesday it will support a new national skills initiative aimed at strengthening India’s and preparing more workers for roles in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and cybersecurity.

The programme, called WICxSaksham, is a three-year public–private effort linked to the Bharat Cyber Suraksha Mission, which aims to certify one million professionals and activate 100 universities for digital skilling. The initiative is aligned with the government’s long-term Viksit Bharat digital development agenda.

Veeam, which provides data protection and recovery tools, will contribute to the programme by developing training modules in data resilience, cloud backup, DevSecOps and recovery readiness. The company said its participation is intended to help address gaps in cyber skills as organisations adopt more .

Veeam plans to support job pathways

“India is moving into a more digitally intensive decade where cyber risks are increasing,” said Sandeep Bhambure, Managing Director for India and SAARC, Veeam. He said the company plans to support job pathways and help set up cyber resilience centres within universities to connect academic training with practical requirements.

Under the university activation component, the initiative plans to establish centres of excellence at 100 institutions. These would provide students with exposure to secure software development, automated security operations and applied learning through industry-linked certification programmes.

The national rollout began in Bengaluru on Wednesday with a series of planned events including leadership roundtables, training workshops and campus-level activities. Organisers said the programme aims to prepare graduates and early-career professionals for roles in an AI-driven economy and improve institutional readiness against cyber threats.

The initiative will use a tiered partnership model, allowing participating organisations to contribute funds and gain access to advisory interactions and impact reporting tied to skilling outcomes.
