The YSR Congress Party strongly criticised the demolition of 42 houses in Joji Nagar at Bhavanipuram, saying the action violated Supreme Court orders and was carried out without proper notice to residents. Party representatives visited the affected families on Thursday, assuring full support and promising to pursue the issue both legally and politically.
On Friday, former Minister Velampalli Srinivas, former MLA Malladi Vishnu, NTR district YSRCP president Devineni Avinash, Vijayawada Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, and Social Media Wing State president Dodda Anjireddy, among others, met the displaced families and expressed concern over the manner in which the demolition was conducted.
They alleged that police, supported by private individuals, entered the colony early in the morning, leaving residents no time to remove their belongings. They said the affected families showed the Supreme Court orders prohibiting demolition until December 31, but these were ignored. They also said residents had earlier approached HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, Jana Sena Party offices, and local MLA and MP Kesineni Sivanath Chinni for assurances but received no response.
Joji Nagar, they said, is located on land valued at hundreds of crores, and attempts to remove residents have been made several times over the years.
The leaders described the incident as an example of bulldozer style administration, pointing out that residents have been paying taxes and utility charges for nearly two decades and that many are registered pension beneficiaries. Acting on the directions of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the party said it will take up the matter legally and politically and demanded an immediate response from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
YSRCP leaders assured continuing support for the 42 displaced families until justice is secured.
